There's enough to see in the City of Oxford to occupy any visitor for weeks, and much of it can be enjoyed with Oxford City Sightseeing. But in the surrounding county you'll also find dozens of un-missable venues to suit all ages. Blenheim Palace is undoubtedly a star attraction, with its great heritage and Churchill connections. There are terrific smaller museums such as the Tolsey Museum, and the Pendon Museum to give you a real feel for the county's past.
There are some fine monumental sites such as the mysterious Minster Lovell, Abingdon Abbey, and Dorchester Abbey to see. Alice in Wonderland fans will be captivated by Oxford's Alice's Shop, and the green fingered can't afford to miss Oxford's Botanic Gardens. Out in the country there's a full farmyard experience along with a farm shop at Farmer Gow's at Appleton, and in Abingdon there's more horticultural heaven at Millet's Garden Centre and Frosts.
Up near Banbury you can get to grips with America's presidential ancestry at the ancenstral home of the Washingtons, Sulgrave Manor. And there are simpler pleasures no less enriching - just pause and ponder at the beauty of villages like Kingham or Kingston Bagpuize.
