By Road: If you're driving from anywhere in England, be prepared for a long journey, albeit an interesting one. Beyond the M90 at Perth this is no longer motorway country. Inverness is a good destination to head for using either the A9 or the A82, which skirts the northern bank of Loch Ness.
By Rail: There are regular train schedules to Inverness and Fort William from a selection of rail operators including Scotrail, making connections from major stations around the UK.
By Air: All things considered, and balanced against the constraints of time and expense, travelling by air is a very good alternative to driving. In this event travellers are well-served because the region has the excellent Inverness Airport, from which the Highlands becomes easily accessible using local transport.
Both Stagecoach and National Express run regular services to the area seven days per week.
